Dr. Chynn is now performing BOTOX® injections.
Dr. Chynn first performed BOTOX® in 1994, when he was a second-year resident at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary and on the Clinical Teaching Staff of Harvard Medical School--well before the "BOTOX craze" that began in 2000.
It is commonly assumed that BOTOX is a product invented by dermatologists or plastic surgeons, but nothing could be further from the truth. BOTOX is, and always has been, an Allergan. product, created by and for ophthalmologists to treat a condition known as "essential blepharospasm," or continuous, involuntary twitching of the eyelid(s).
BOTOX was used for years by eye surgeons like Dr. Chynn before it was "rediscovered" by dermatologists and plastic surgeons to treat less serious, more superficial pathology than spastic muscle contractions--namely, muscle-induced wrinkles.
BOTOX is a simple cosmetic treatment which improves fine lines and wrinkles that develop over time that are MUSCLE-INDUCED. This means that BOTOX works well for such areas a glabellar folds (between the eyebrows), "crow's feet" (by the side of the eyes), "marionette lines" (by the sides of the mouth), and forehead wrinkles. BOTOX does NOT work for wrinkles that are NOT the result of muscle activity, as from skin laxity/drooping/redundancy with age.
parkavenuelaser.com commonly offers BOTOX to its current patient base, as a "thank-you" for referring friends and family for LASIK and LASEK. Our unique offer in NYC is this: "For each friend you refer, you get 1 free BOTOX procedure!" Many of our patients, both male and female, in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s take advantage of this great deal, and refer 1 patient every 3-4 months, to get their BOTOX absolutely free!
The BOTOX procedure lasts only about ten minutes and consists of a few tiny injections. No recuperation time is required, and the effects appear within days. Skin will remain smooth for about 3-4 months, when the BOTOX. is metabolized naturally by the body and dissipates.
The following are some news clips about BOTOX in the media:
In the right hands, BOTOX® is so very simple, and so very easy, and gives such great results that it's amazing.

Seven days after the injections [the doctor] shows me the before photos. Yikes! Who moved my eyes? My forehead seems spread out, the gash in [between my eyes] a mere shadow of its former self. The skin up to my hairline is nearly smooth.
-The Washington Post, February 19, 2002
With BOTOX®, people can't tell what you've done, just that you look better.

Two or three faint pinches on each side of my eyes, and I'm done. That's it.
-Newsweek, May 13, 2002
Last year, Americans underwent a total of 1.6 million procedures with botulinum toxin.

Again, in keeping with the OPEN AND HONEST policy of parkavenuelaser.com, and the "kill them with bluntness" approach of Dr. Chynn, we are hereby informing the public of something that is not promoted by most practices or the media, namely, that:
BOTOX consists of purified botulinum toxin, a naturally-occurring toxin that is made my micro-organisms present in soil, and the same toxin that causes cans to bulge when spoiled and the contents to be POISONOUS.
Botulinum toxin paralyzes all muscles within the body, including the muscles of respiration, such as the diagphragm--leading to a painful death by suffocation if accidentally eating the contents of a spoiled, contaminated, bulging can! If victims are brought to the hospital quickly enough, they can usually be brought to the ICU and put on a ventilator until the toxin wears off and they are able to breathe again on their own--thus saving their life.
BOTOX works the same way, but SELECTIVELY, by (temporarily) paralyzing the muscles that cause fine wrinkles, as the section below (provided by the manufacturer) explains:
How does BOTOX® work?
BOTOX® is the brand name for botulinum toxin A, a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Some wrinkles result from overactive muscles that will not relax. BOTOX® temporarily paralyzes those muscles, leaving the skin smooth. As a neurotoxin it does this by blocking the release of acetylcholine from the nerve that triggers the overactive muscle. Acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter that tells the muscle to contract, thus by blocking its release the overactive muscle can no longer contract. BOTOX® is injected directly into the overactive muscles, thus preventing the toxin from spreading to other areas of the body.
BOTOX® works the most effectively on wrinkles in the upper third of the face, including frown lines, horizontal bands of wrinkles across the forehead and crow's feet. However, wrinkles that result from aging skin, not overactive muscles, cannot be treated with BOTOX®.
This treatment is not meant for everyone; pregnant women and people over 65 should consider other cosmetic treatments. Although most people do not suffer considerable side effects, some have experienced headache and flu symptoms shortly after treatment. Because BOTOX® is so diluted, serious side effects like allergic reactions are rare.
If you are at all interested in learning more about this procedure please call (212) 741-8628, or toll-free (888) I-WANT-2020, or 1-888-492-6820 Monday-Friday from 10AM-7PM to reserve your spot at parkavenuelaser.com's next monthly BOTOX® party! Our prices, and Dr. Chynn's expertise, compare very favorably to that of other providers--and NEVER GO TO A SPA OR SALON TO GET BOTOX® FROM ANYONE WHO IS NOT A BOARD-CERTIFIED MD, such poorly-controlled environments have been implicated in fake BOTOX®, overly-diluted BOTOX®, contaminated BOTOX®, BOTOX® not manufactured by Allergan but in third-world countries without a license or FDA quality and sterility control, and recently has been associated with the DEATH OF A WOMAN WHO GOT OFF-BRAND BOTOX® BY A NON-MD IN FLORIDA.
