Happy Lasik Patient Shares his Recipe for a Successful Vision Correction Experience…
I only have one pair of eyes, so I wanted to do everything possible to make sure that I had a good result for my eye surgery….. My strategy was simple: Pick a good doctor, and then do what he tells me to do. Dr. Chynn did a great job of laying out exactly what I needed to do to get a good result. I followed all of the instructions, and I am on my way to 20/20 (and hopefully better!) vision.
It is important to start the eye drops about a week before the workup. This will help with the examination and also help the Doctor to take more accurate pictures of your eye - which can only help with the surgery.
The surgery itself really is pretty easy. It only takes about 10-15 minutes for both eyes, and you have your own music soundtrack playing in the background.
The hardest part for me was the first 4 days of recovery. Dr. Chynn also told me that this was a crucial time right after the surgery, and that my results would depend in large part on how much responsibility I took for my recovery. I made sure to memorize all my meds and kept my eyes closed as much as possible for those first few days. Any pain I had was gone by the 2nd day. I kept following Dr. Chynn’s instructions closely and relaxed over the weekend. By the 4th day, when I returned for my 4 day post-op, my vision measured approximately 20/25. I was already legal to drive!
Things have just kept improving since then. It is hard to believe that only 2 weeks ago I couldn’t leave the house without thinking about putting on my glasses or contacts. I am still noticing small improvements every day as my eyes continue to heal and improve. Halloween never looked so good. I am so glad that I had the surgery. You will be happy you did it, too.
