Dr. Chynn Answers a Patient’s Queries
Dr. Emil Chynn clarifies some of the concern’s of a skeptic patient, Erin L. :
Erin : My inurance is through Cigna.
Dr. Chynn : I am a Cigna insurance provider, so bring in your card when you come in for your free consultation as we can bill them for part of your cost.
Erin : I use Soft Daily Disposable contact lenses.
Dr. Chynn : You are smart as this type of lens damages your eyes the least.
Erin : My Contact Lens Prescription is -4.75
Dr. Chynn : This is an average Rx; your laser time will be only 30 seconds per eye !
Erin : I am mainly seeking laser correction because my eyes became sensitive to contacts about a year ago. I have been wearing my glasses since. Sometimes I wear contacts for a special occassion for a few hours. After a while they start to bother me. My eye doctor told me I was a good candidate for laser. Assuming Dr. Chynn thinks I can have the procedure, I would like to have it done before my wedding.
Dr. Chynn : Yes, it is common to start not tolerating contacts after many years (Contact Lens Intolerance), which is why people decide to get this done, and we can do this for you after we confirm you are a good candidate. Hopefully this will be before your wedding so you will see great and look beautiful for that!
Erin : I hope I would be a good candidate in order to have the surgery. I find it hard to believe that I could actually wake up and be able to see that well. It worries me that I may see halos at night like some people I know who have had this procedure. Either way they are still extremely happy with their outcome. The 1 in a million chance of going blind is of course the most worrisome.
Dr. Chynn : The people with halos either would have had a cutting LASIK procedure or didn’t have Customvue; since you will have a noncutting procedure with customvue, you will not have halos at night.
Also, the risk of going blind is dependent on your taking your antibiotic drops afterwards so you don’t get an infection and your steroid drop so you don’t scar — the OR risk is essentially 0 in our noncutting procedures!
Erin : I’m near-sighted with Astigmatism and I have sensitivity to contacts.
Dr. Chynn : I was also near-sighted with Astigmatism before my laser a DECADE ago!
Erin : I think most of my questions will be your basic pre-operative and post-operative procedure questions. These would be mainly on what I can and can’t do before and just after the surgery ?
Dr. Chynn : Its simple and easy to follow. First, you can’t wear eye make-up for a few days before and after, and second, you can’t swim for 7-10 days after the procedure or surgery.
Erin : What kind of financing options can you offer me ?
Dr. Chynn : We offer 0% financing for 18 months , and you can pay the same Dollars per month that you are now wasting on glasses, contacts, and solutions. The bottomline is, that you can afford it.
