We used to post auctions several years ago on eBay to promote our laser vision correction practice and
were featured in the news about this.
We stopped doing this for several reasons back then:
1. Our volume went way up, since we are the only non-cutting center in NYC and the safest, so really didn’t need to advertise by auction anymore
2. It was not really worth my time (i’m the MD/surgeon/owner) to post.
However, there are several factors now for why we want to restart this:
1. the economy is down, as is our volume, so we have to try more things again.
2. The quality of seller on eBay has changed dramatically for the better, meaning there are less private sellers selling used product and more regular businesses selling new inventory, so people are using eBay now more for serious shopping, rather than bidding-for-fun (witness the growth of “Buy-it-Now”.)
TO QUALIFY FOR THIS GIG, YOU HAVE TO ALREADY BE A FREQUENT “POWER” SELLER ON EBAY WITH A MINIMUM OF 1000 CLOSED AUCTIONS AND A POSITIVE APPROVAL RATING OF AT LEAST 99%, AS IT IS YOUR SELLING REPUTATION THAT WILL HELP US GET BIDDERS!
Here’s the deal:
1. I provide you with the text about the auction for no-cut, no-flap, all-laser LASEK (not LASIK) laser vision correction (who is a candidate, if they are not a candidate on exam we will refund 100% of their $, etc., which will only happen 1% of the time as 99% of people are candidates, etc.)
2. You post bi-weekly auctions on ebay, starting price $1000, reserve price $3000, retail price $4000 so they would save $1000 over retail if bid $3000
3. You keep 10% of closed auction price as your commission.
So, for putting in a weekly or biweekly auction and promoting it sufficiently, you will make an easy $300 cash per auction, for almost no effort, especially if you are already a power seller and know all the tricks to promote the auction.

Plus you cannot do this auction well if you do not come in and witness personally our state-of-the-art center, so you have the belief in us necessary to properly push and sell this auction
The best arrangement is if you also want laser vision correction yourself, because then instead of giving you $300 cash we can give you $600 credit per closed auction. This means all you have to do is promote and close 5 auctions and you will get lasered by me for free, get rid of your glasses and contacts and see 20/20 without them for the rest of your life–just like myself and my entire staff!
