Stopped Doing LASIK a Decade Ago
Q: I would like know how much it will cost to get both eyes LASIKed? And would it be possible for me to have both the consultation and operation scheduled during that time period?
A: Please understand that I no longer perform the older, cutting LASIK, which i had a decade ago myself, as it is being supplanted by the safer, more advanced, noncutting procedure LASEK, which is 10x safer because i don’t have to cut any flap into your eye
This is way better for patients from abroad, as with a LASIK you can get hit in the eye weeks or months later and the flap can come back up, but with a LASEK you dont have a flap in the 1st place so it’s much safer to do LASEKs on patients who will then be returning to out of the US, as there are virtually no risks after the 1st week
You can have the consultation and surgery scheduled for the same day, but it’s better logistically if you come in for the testing a few days earlier and prepare to stay to come in for a post exam.
