A Cure for Blindness - LASEK Surgery?

LASEK (Laser-Assisted Sub epithelial Keratectomy) is a newer laser surgery that combines the best characteristics of LASIK (rapid recovery, no pain) and PRK (no cutting, no flap, improved safety).

Unlike LASIK in which a permanent stromal flap is created in the deeper layers of the cornea, LASEK does not require a flap and uses a procedure that allows the central cornea to be reshaped using a VISX excimer laser.

Benefits of LASEK

Because no flap is required, the LASEK technique –sometimes called “bladeless” surgery-- preserves much more of the corneal tissue. As a result, the LASEK technique can be used for patients with higher levels of prescription. For example, recently, Dr. Emil Chynn successfully complete LASEK surgery on a woman with an RX of -26 – the definition for legal blindness is -3.

LASEK Safer than LASIK for EVERY Patient

LASEK is also considered safer than LASIK other reasons. Because there is no flap, there are no related problems such as dry eye and flap related complications. There are no flap-related problems because if you don't cut a flap in the first place, you can't have a flap problem!

Don't take our word. Just Google "LASIK flap complications" and you will see the 101 flap-related complications that ARE NOT EVEN POSSIBLE WITH LASEK BECAUSE THERE IS NO FLAP TO BEGIN WITH!

LASEK is the only choice for patients who are poor LASIK candidates, including those with high prescriptions, thin corneas, irregular astigmatism, and dry eyes.

Do you think you may be a candidate for LASEK Surgery?
